4. First Fall

I was riding oh so carelessly
Skimming in the thinnest air
Cushioned by a childlike certainty
Things were very more than fair

Strengthened by a fresh fragility
I let the hope accumulate
Llights were green in soothing greenery
Kept alive in Eden’s state

First fall is the deepest
Just the deeper ones to come
First fall is the deepest
Just the deeper ones to plumb

In the rhythm of rapidity
Count the sleepers pass below
Feel the lurch into uncertainty
Do we ever seem to know?

Harder still the unplanned urgency
To create the night before
In amidst the sobbing certainty
Hear the idealistic roar

Forget, forego, far off fields to find
Instinct, instil leave a younger world behind
