10. Naive

As time goes by religion slides
From the heart of things unto the sides
There's no need for things unseen
To influence what might have been
Since evolution has pushed out
Creator God to at best doubt
Pay your heed to clever minds
Forsake your faith leave it behind

So we must be naive
Cos we still believe
Are we so easily deceived?

Now it seems it's all within
And there's no more need to talk of sin
Now we'e judged by how we feel
And no more shall we need to kneel
For we've been fooled for all these years
By God's religious racketeers
Look at all the progress made
Now we have slipped out of his shade

But the faithful still plough on
And dare to sing our ancient songs
And we'll let compassion loose
And say it sits alongside truth
Until they have explained away
The kindness on display each day
Until they have discovered why
There's joy and peace and sacrifice

I wouldn't believe it
